Go Tigers!?
This past Thursday, I had the great privilege of speaking at Clemson University’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). This is my third time speaking for Clemson’s FCA and this was the third time I was blown away by what the Spirit of God is doing on that campus.
Before last fall, I had very little interaction with the students at Clemson. I knew some of the students because they came from our student ministry and I knew that traditionally Clemson’s FCA was strong, but that was it.
After speaking to the 700-800+ students last year, I was blown away by not only the number of students that attend, but the passion for the Lord that many of the students display. Then, I was asked to speak at their Spring Break mission trip in Washington D.C. It was on that trip that I sensed that God was doing something unique at Clemson, something I had NEVER seen before in the midst of that many college students.
I had the privilege of hanging out with and talking ministry with 300 college students who were giving up their personal vacation from school to serve the homeless, the poor, the broken, those of different religions, the rich, and the powerful. They were serving any, and every, group that God placed in their lives and God used them mightily. It was truly an honor to be a part of in some small way.
Then, I had the opportunity to speak this past Thursday at Clemson’s 3rd FCA of the year. Before Thursday, they had been in the outdoor amphitheater, where they averaged between 2700-3000 students. AMAZING!!! When I showed up, I heard stories of God continuing what He had started last spring and heard how he had already moved mightily on campus thus far.
As we prepared ourselves for the service that night, at 9:19pm, there was a line of students wrapped around the side of the building waiting to get in. There were hundreds of students all hungry and thirsty for what God had to offer.
After an amazing time of worship, lead by Josh Downey, who is one of the most talented and humble worship leaders I have met, I had the privilege to speak. When I was done, we had more worship and I simply sat there in awe and watched a thousand students pack out the place with worship and devotion to God.
There truly are not enough words to describe what God is doing on the campus of Clemson University.  If you are a student at Clemson, get involved in what God is doing at FCA. If you are a leader at Clemson’s FCA, keep pursuing God. If you are a parent of a college student, remove them from the college they are in and enroll them at Clemson. If you are a parent of a small child, like me, pray that God will be moving this mightily at more schools by the time your child reaches college age.
Thanks God for what you are doing. Thanks for using the younger generation to show me what you can do through those who are obedient. Thanks for allowing me to see you move on the campus of Clemson University. Go Tigers!
